This book details the market mechanism underlying the emergence of global terrorism. It demonstrates, with excellent examples, how non-state threats are growing faster than the ability of states to respond to them. A must read.

UPDATE: Speaking Tour

Here's an update on this month's speaking engagements where I am giving my briefing. This month's schedule includes a trip to Dallas for a private audience of super-sharp CEOs, a day with the JCS (Joint Chiefs of Staff), and a day with the NIC (National Intelligence Council).

What's in the brief? Essentially, the brief provides audiences with six conceptual frameworks for thinking about the future of war/terrorism/security, replete with the illustrative examples/stories necessary to make each framework memorable. The goal, and it appears to be working given the feedback, is to get the minds in the audience thinking about the future in new and more productive ways (a mind bomb?).
