Some random items of interest:
- Fortune: some thoughts on BitCoin with some quotes (not quite choice, but good enough) from me. Talking with the reporter, it was great to hear that a) almost nobody had heard of BitCoin and b) even if they had heard of it, they weren't able to wrap their heads around it.
- Funding! Our open venture, code named PictureCoop, just landed an initial investment from some very cool/smart entrepreneurs. I'm going to add a little more to that anchor investment to close the round and then we'll start the insurgency (ala BitCoin). Insurgency? "PictureCoop" is a Clark Kent open source economic insurgency. It looks mild mannered and boring at first glance... But underneath that drab exterior it's pure superempowerment.
- DIY Defense System/Tech to fight off murderous rape cult in the Congo.
- Transaction security services like Dwolla are riding the updraft in BitCoin. Here's Dwolla's CEO Ben Milne on his company's recent growth.
- Looking for a PHP wizard to work closely with me on my new venture. We've found the open source software were going to use for our site's platform. IF we can untangle it a bit, it'll save us a year of development.
- The Lulzsec open source insurgency continues. Every organization is a target. It's doing a great job making the massive computer security world look foolish.
- The US economy continues to sink.... Even with deficit spending going great guns and rates at zero, unemployment continues to rise. It's no surpise. The system is broken.
