If true, which I doubt, then I agree with your assessment. The levels of chaos have reached a point where they don't need to sacrifice any more jihadis or money for the cause.

The question then becomes - where is the next battleground. My guess is Pakistan.

My guess is Jordan/ Palestinian authority territory, to carry on the destabilisation caused by withdrawal of funding from US and Europe. Zawahiri's on record as being very critical of Hamas.

Jordan. They attempted to turn the lights out last month (by blowing up the central power plant). More is on the way.
