PMCs: Trolling for the validating mission in Dafur
NPR: Chris Taylor, head of strategy for Blackwater, says his company has a database of thousands of former police and military officers for security assignments. He says Blackwater personnel could set up perimeters and guard Darfurian villages and refugee camp in support of the U.N. Blackwater officials say it would not take many men to
fend off the Janjaweed, a militia that is supported by the Sudanese government and attacks villages on camelback.
This is a bad thing?
I found Singer's comment about contractor misbehavior amusing. A couple under qualified interrogators gives all contractors a bad name, but the UN kid-toucher squads are OK. Go figure.

Definitely a great thing. Blackwater has the chance to act as a sort of SysAdmin Guerrilla at worst, and a regular part of a Military-Industrial-SysAdmin-Complex at best.

I didn't say that it was good or bad, just confirms the trend. I like the idea of grassroots organizations paying for the resolution despite the confusion and inaction of states.

Apologies. I wrongly interpreted the title negatively. It was o-dark thirty, what can I say?
