re: National Oil Companies, the radio program Fresh Air had a :30 minute interview (25 October 2007) of journalist Steve LeVine about how this is becoming the established business model in the Caspian area. He states that the big oil companies are now in decline as they become employees of the national governments and their oil companies. He has solid credentials, and is on book tour for a new book about the subject.
