Global guerrillas have successfully stalled power production in Iraq (see Iraqi Electricity Disruption for more). This situation is made worse by growing demands for electricity (expected to reach 8,000 megawatts this summer, twice what is actually being produced) due to subsidized prices. See the attached chart (from the CPA and GAO) on how this combination has reduced hours of service in almost all of Iraq's provinces. It is going to be a long, hot summer in Iraq.
