To protest Israel's withdrawal from Gaza, Israeli ultra-nationalists closed highway one today with spiked cans and oil. The spikes slashed the tires of 20 cars and disrupted traffic for an hour. Additionally, several ultra-nationalists were arrested to prevent the execution of plans to disrupt electrical and water networks in Israel. This is yet another demonstration of the portability of systems disruption to groups other than Islamic radicals.
If Iraq is used as a guide, even a small number of autonomous groups could radically destabilize Israel within a relatively short time frame.
