Count me among those who don't see it this way.

The problem with Salameh's analysis is that he is comparing what actually happened to nothing happening, rather than comparing it to what might have happened instead. Any analysis of the effect of occupying Iraq has to consider what might have happened if we hadn't done so. Consider Iraq invading Saudi Arabia, for example.

Funny, but I didn't notice when we annexed Iraq's oil fields. In other news indirect competition will likely hold oil demand down, especially as bio sources of oil come into play.
